Artifact Overview

Ford Motor Company built its one millionth Model T engine in 1915, seven years after the car debuted. Ford's yearly production numbers climbed even before the moving assembly line was fully implemented in late 1913. Before the assembly line, that growth was powered by the automaker's use of interchangeable parts, specialized machines, and a highly developed station-assembly system.
